It is crazy to believe that 365 short days ago, I was in New York. It seems so surreal to believe that an entire year has passed by since the end of my American Adventure but, as the phrase says, time goes on, no matter how much we want it to, which is why I'm glad to be looking over this adventure and refreshing my memory on how much I accomplished last year.

Lessons from America #1 - Getting to Denver
This
time last year, I was in Denver, visiting my cousin and his family. I stayed
with them for twelve days before heading to Pennsylvania, Boston and finally
meeting up with my boyfriend in New York before coming back home. It was a
whirlwind of a time, a roller coaster of emotions and saturated with lessons. I
think I learned more about myself in those 19 days in America than I have in
the rest of my life. However, recently I feel as though I have been sidetracked
and almost reverted back to the person I was before I went to America, so I
would like to recap on my time in the USA to refresh those lessons.

Lessons Learnt #2
Last September, my friend and I went into Birmingham to watch the Lion King. We got to New Street Station and got a little bit lost walking to the Hippodrome - we went in completely the wrong direction, making the five minute journey last twenty-five minutes. We were only seconds away from being shut out of the first half of the show but luckily we made it just in time. We both loved the performance and I would definitely recommend watching it if you are contemplating going.
After the show, we made our way back to New Street and used the time we were waiting for the train to catch up on recent life events as we don't get to see each other much. The train pulled up a bit early so we got on it. About twenty minutes into the journey, my friend realised she didn't recognise the surroundings. Turns out we had gotten on the wrong train, in the wrong direction.

Lessons Learnt #1 (a.k.a. Mistakes of My Life)
I have been wanting to do a series of blog posts for some times and after the debacle I had yesterday, I realised what the perfect series for the Taisie Odele blog is: all of my mistakes. I don't just mean mistakes as they happen but also past mistakes and prevented mistakes. I think it's true that we all need mistakes to learn and better ourselves but some of mine are just plain stoooo-pid. So, what better way to celebrate my occasional stupidity than share it with the blogging community?
