Project Confidence: What is it?

Shopping for me is a bit of a hit-and-miss experience. Sometimes when I go, I’ll love everything I try on and I’ll want to buy it all because it makes me look great. It might cinch my waist, elongate my legs or plump my butt: it’ll give the illusion that I have the figure of which I dream.
However, most of the time I go, I leave empty-handed, disappointed and self-conscious.

Pole Dancing Children... What's the Big Deal?

Source
Source Children don’t know about the provocative side of pole dancing or stripping - this is an adult's view
A few days ago a post appeared on my Facebook newsfeed, containing a link to an article by a website called Geelong Advertiser. The article featured two pictures of a young girl hanging off a pole and the article was about a studio in Grovedale, Australia, that is offering pole-dancing classes to children as young as five-years-old. I didn’t actually read the article as I was quite caught up in the comments on the Facebook post on my newsfeed and if I am being frank they were actually quite rude and disrespectful.
The article has since been taken down, despite it still showing in the search results of the Geelong webpage, but I was so outraged that I remember some of the comments people had said. I was so frustrated by the disrespect of some of the people that I felt obligated to write a response containing my thoughts.
There is so much that I want to say and so much narrowmindedness and judgement in the comments I read, and they aren’t even some of the worst I read. So, I shall tackle some of the general comments and their points individually.

Lessons Learnt #1 (a.k.a. Mistakes of My Life)

I have been wanting to do a series of blog posts for some times and after the debacle I had yesterday, I realised what the perfect series for the Taisie Odele blog is: all of my mistakes. I don't just mean mistakes as they happen but also past mistakes and prevented mistakes. I think it's true that we all need mistakes to learn and better ourselves but some of mine are just plain stoooo-pid. So, what better way to celebrate my occasional stupidity than share it with the blogging community?

The First Date Tag

First Date Tag
I was looking on Bloglovin yesterday and I saw a tag that I thought was really fun on a blogger site called Nina in the Spring. Although I've only ever been on two first dates, I thought the tag was such a great idea as it reveals quite a bit of the author's personality, style and beliefs so I decided to do it myself.

Phones or Friends

I couldn't think of a great - or even good - title for this blog please... Suggestions welcome! Anyway...
Last year was the first holiday I went on without my family. My then best friend and I went to Barcelona and let me tell you it was A.MAY.ZING. We were only there for one evening and three full days, which definitely didn’t feel long enough, but we got a fair amount of sightseeing done. However, despite being in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, my friend had one huge problem.
She couldn’t stay off her phone.

8 Bad Beauty Habits

I quite enjoy reading about people's bad beauty habits as it makes me feel a little less bad for having some myself. Whether it's something major like wearing foundation that doesn't truly match your skin tone (OK, so this can be me sometimes as I'm awful at matching colours) or something minor like not tidying your eyebrows as often as you should, I believe everyone has at least one bad beauty habit. So, in true blogger style, I have decided to share some of my worst beauty habits with you all.

Working hard for what you've already got

A lot of people might think that once they have achieved or won something, they can keep it without having to try. Now that is true for certain incidences, such as winning a toy at a fete or achieving a set of great exam results. However there are plenty of different scenarios in life for when this isn't true and keeping something you have already worked hard for can be as hard as achieving it in the first place.

And the great laptop declutter has begun!

I don't know about you but I love the feeling of a new piece of technology, like a laptop or a phone. I think there is something beautiful in a machine that is waiting to be personalised and is completely clean.

"Your butt looks really good!" - Why we value the opinion of strangers more than friends

I was at work yesterday when two of my colleagues complimented my derriere. It was quite spontaneous but they both seemed impressed and said that it looked really good; one of them even asked if I did squats to achieve my physique (does once two weeks ago count?). It made me blush a little as I am not used to that sort of attention but I found that I quite liked the compliments I was receiving. I don't particularly work out and while my boyfriend frequently tells me that my butt looks good, I find it hard to believe him - possibly because I think he is bias due to being in a relationship with me. However, when my colleagues said the same, I appreciated the comment from them more than from the person who loves me.
So, it made me think: why do we value the opinions of strangers more than the people who love us?

Yesterday, I finally went down to Boots to use my birthday gift card! I bought a few pieces of makeup and skincare items that I have had before but already/almost used up but there were also a few new items that I am super excited to try out!
